Note

1 From the twelfth century till the end of the Bosnian Kingdom in 1463 Bosnians were constantly accused of being heretics, adherents of the so-called Bosnian Church, sometimes as Bogomils. The question on how far this church really was heretic is, due to the lack of sources, not definitely answered. However, all those who wanted to extend their power over Bosnia used this accusation as a justification for their actions. On the Church of Bosnia, see among others: John Fine, The Bosnian Church: Its Place in State and Society from the Thirteenth to the Fifteenth Century: A New Interpretation (London: SAQI, The Bosnian Institute, 2007).
